Learning a new language is one of the best investments one can make in their life. It not only broadens horizons and provides cultural and employment opportunities but also exercises the mind and contributes to the prevention of cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s.
According to various studies, the process of learning new vocabulary and grammar stimulates the brain, improving memory and academic performance. Furthermore, bilingual or multilingual individuals develop Alzheimer’s four or five years later than those who only master one language.
Learning a new language also boosts self-confidence and personal motivation. As one progresses in their learning, they receive recognition from those around them, which, in turn, encourages them to keep going.
This positive feedback fosters greater commitment and enthusiasm for learning.
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has announced the launch of free online courses in English, French, and Italian in collaboration with the Faculty of Higher Studies Acatlán (FES Acatlán).
These courses represent an opportunity for those interested in acquiring language skills in a flexible and accessible manner.
The online format of these courses offers a unique flexibility in study schedules, eliminating geographical barriers.
The platform hosting these courses has been developed by the Coordination of Open University, Educational Innovation, and Distance Education (CUAIEED) of UNAM and is located within the Language Virtual Environment (AVI).
The course structure is designed to cover the four fundamental language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
These programs align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, spanning from level A1 to level B2, providing students with a wide range of language competencies.
To ensure effective learning, participants are recommended to follow the course structure provided on the platform. This ensures a seamless knowledge acquisition process.
